Revitalizing School Clubs and Promoting Hygiene in GASHOHO
The 2025–2026 school year began under the banner of student health and well-being. At ECOFO Kagari, Gisanze I, Gisanze III, and other schools in the commune of BUTIHINDA—formerly known as GASHOHO (Buhumuza province)—focus groups brought together children from school clubs to reinvigorate their activities. Through interactive discussions, students emphasized the importance of hygiene in daily life, including menstrual hygiene management, often surrounded by taboos and exclusion. At the same time, progress was monitored on the construction of 15 latrine blocks across 5 schools in the commune—a major step toward ensuring a healthy and inclusive school environment. “Thanks to these clubs, we’ve learned that hygiene protects us and our school,” shared a student from Kagari.
